Reading at LangLab Tonight! & Poem Featured as Creative Writing Prompt

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying your week. Two pieces of fun news for this afternoon—

I’ll be reading tonight among friends at LangLab in South Bend at 7pm as a part of Lit Literary Collective‘s WRITE NIGHT with Ultreia, Inc. You can find more about it here; I hope you’ll join us!

And I also found out yesterday that my poem, “Timetable,” previously published by the beautiful Rogue Agent (and featured partially above), was used as a creative writing prompt online! I am so pleased and flattered. You can check it out, and the other writing prompts, over here.

Have a wonderful night, all! If I don’t see you, I hope you enjoy the sunshine and get some writing done. If I do see you, I hope you enjoy the poetry!

Until Later, Best ~ from me

“Where I Write” Feature in Rogue Agent Today!

Hi, everyone! In case you haven’t heard elsewhere, I was featured in this month’s “Where I Create” gallery, up at Rogue Agent. I sent in a snapshot of where I write most often in my home, as well as a picture of my most-constant writing companion, Kovu. Here’s another picture of him “helping” me with my work.

Friends! Help Me Welcome MLT Editing Services into the World!

Friends! Again, more time has passed than I would have liked before writing to you… As I said in my last couple posts, I have been spending much of my time this summer figuring out my life as a mother and as a writer (and now a teacher!), but I have also put a great deal of time into launching something new and pretty awesome:

MLT Editing Services is my new business where I offer editing, outlining, consultation, transcription and long-term/writer’s assistant services for resumes/CVs/cover letters, poetry, fiction and novels. The website officially launched on Thursday, August 20, and I already have a few projects underway, but I am attempting to spread the word as much as possible.

If you would be so wonderful, please share the information for MLT Editing Services’ main website, its Facebook page, or my Twitter feed, as those will be the primary places for updates on services.

Thank you all so much for your support! More poetry and stories soon!

Until then, All Best,
from me.

Tomorrow!! At the Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts!!

Art Hop Second Sight Insight IIEveryone! Wonderful news: I have plans for you for your Friday night!

As a part of the Greater Kalamazoo Art Hop, the Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts will be hosting a reading for their art exhibit, Second Sight/Insight II, which is in its second year of ekphrastic pairings.

Back in October, poets were encouraged to submit their work for consideration to be a part of this exhibit; and upon selection, they were paired with a local artist’s piece, which they then needed to create a poem from by the beginning of November. The Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts now houses the fruits of their labors (myself included), pairing on the walls the original artists’ works with the poets’ literary renderings (like the one shown above with artist Jay Seeley and poet Marion Boyer!).

Friday evening, from 6:00pm-7:00pm, some of these poets will read their poems from the exhibit and offer a few thoughts about their ekphrastic process. I will hopefully be there to read my poem, “For My Doppelgänger,” and to talk about its pairing with Flo Hatcher’s A Box with a Sky Window. Needless to say, I am extremely excited!

Hope to see you all there! It’s a really wonderful and beautiful exhibit!
